Overview

A Five-Year Doctor of Pharmacy

The PharmD at IICP follows the structure and academic calendar set by the University of the Punjab. The first three years establish grounding in pharmaceutical, biomedical, and clinical sciences; the final two years shift toward applied clinical pharmacy, culminating in supervised hospital and community rotations.

Students train in modern laboratories and undergo structured hospital clinical rotations, equipping them for careers in clinical practice, hospital pharmacy, industrial pharmaceutical manufacturing, and research.

Curriculum, Year by Year

Professional Year 1 — Foundations
Human anatomy and physiology, pharmaceutical chemistry I, pharmaceutics I, biochemistry, and communication skills.
Professional Year 2 — Pharmaceutical Sciences
Pharmacology I, pharmaceutical chemistry II, pharmaceutics II, pathophysiology, and microbiology.
Professional Year 3 — Applied Pharmacy
Pharmacology II, pharmacotherapeutics I, pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacy law & ethics.
Professional Year 4 — Clinical Foundations
Pharmacotherapeutics II, clinical pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, hospital pharmacy, and research methodology.
Professional Year 5 — Clinical Clerkships
Full-time supervised rotations across hospital and community pharmacy settings, plus a final research project.

Learning Outcomes

Clinical Judgment

Evaluate patient therapy, identify drug-related problems, and recommend evidence-based interventions.

Pharmaceutical Science

Apply pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and medicinal chemistry to real formulation and therapy decisions.

Communication & Ethics

Counsel patients and collaborate with physicians and nurses within a professional code of ethics.
